First edition. Publisher’s gilt-stamped bronze silk binding. All edges gilt. Gilt endpapers. Very slightly faded to upper part of front board. Slightly brown-spotted on half title, title page, page 81-84, page 165-last blank page. In general a fine copy of this lovely cookbook. Elegant gilt-stamped binding, and printed entirely in green ink. The ‘Jugendstil’ design is evinced in the special floral motifs and typography. Villiers’ recipes are quite international, representing the cuisine of France, Switzerland, Germany, Italy, America, England, Poland, Hungary, Russia, Holland and Portugal. She explains in the preface that she gathered these recipes during her various travels and is much indebted to a famous parisian chef named ‘Joseph’ of a restaurant ‘Marivaux’. Not in Bitting (who has the 7th edition). Weiss 3954.
